On December 3 to 8, NSFC Vice President Liu Congqiang visited Germany. Professor Liu visited German Research Foundation and met with Secretary General Dorothee Dzwonnek, Deputy Secretary General Harald von Kalm and Ms. Annette Schmidtmann, Head of Department for Scientific Affairs.

On July 3rd, 2017, NSFC President Yang Wei signed the Annex to theAgreement on Cooperation between the National Natural Science Foundation of China and the Belarusian Republican Foundation for Fundamental Research in Beijing with Professor Sergey Gaponenko.
On July 3rd, 2017, NSFC President Yang Wei signed the Memorandum of Understanding between the National Natural Science Foundation of China and the Shota Rustaveli National Science Foundation Georgia on Research Cooperation in Beijing.
On November 17, 2015, NSFC Vice President Liu Congqiang and Ms. Ettore Francesco Sequi, Italian Ambassador to China, signed the Memorandum of Understanding on Cooperation between the National Natural Science Foundation of China and the Ministry of Foreign Affairs and International Cooperation .
