On March 17, 2025, Vice President Jiang Song met with Dr. Carsten Balleier from the Division Mathematics and Engineering Sciences 2 of the German Research Foundation (DFG).
Vice President Jiang Song acknowledged Germany’s solid and remarkable accomplishments in the field of mathematics. Based on the outcomes of the talks between President Dou Xiankang and President Katja Becker, both sides aim to restart the joint funding of Sino-German cooperative research projects in the field of mathematics this year. It is hoped that both sides will seize this opportunity to jointly promote academic exchanges and research cooperation in the field of mathematics between China and Germany.
Dr. Carsten Balleier is a member of the DFG programme director exchange delegation, whose purpose is to hold consultations with the Chinese side on cooperation in the field of mathematics.
Attendees included Dr. Fan Yingjie, Director General of the Bureau of International Cooperation of NSFC and Chinese Director of the Sino-German Science Center, representatives from the Department of Mathematics and Physics, the European Affairs Division of the Bureau of International Cooperation, and the Chinese side of the Sino-German Center. Also present were Ingrid Krüßmann, Deputy Head of International Affairs Division, DFG and German Director of the Sino-German Science Center, and Ylva Schuberth and Gerrit Schlepper, Deputy German Directors of the Sino-German Center.
